      Naeem Abbas Rufi

It was in the early 90s that Naeem Abbas Rufi surfaced as a playback singer, quickly making a name for himself with his melodic vocals in television as well as the film industry. Born in a non-music family, his fascination to music developed during school years where he frequently sang national anthems and took part in singing competitions. By the time he turned 12, he featured in Sohail Rana’s music show, ‘Sung Sung Chalay’ as a child artist. Around 1988, Rufi recorded an album as a tribute to Madam Noor Jehan, followed by another release in 1992 of another tribute album for Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.

Performing shows across the world, Naeem Abbas Rufi is set to make his debut this year on Coke Studio, Season 9 in a powerful duet featuring Meesha Shafi.
